Finally we finished our new Me 262 B-1A/U1 kit !
The Me 262 B1a is scaled at 1/4.8.This results in a wingspan of 2610 mm (103") and a length of 2210 mm (87").
The model is very scale and features a completely detailed surface. All parts are made in glassfiber and are very highly prefabricated. Wings are detachable aswell as the engine nacelles and elevators. The model has been cleverly designed to reduce the overall weight by means of scale rib structure under a thin glassfiber skin instead of the heavy standard Herex sandwich method that is common on other large scale jets. A typical take off weight , equipped with two engines and fuel is about 18 kilogramms only. Optional electric retracts feature scale retraction angles and leg lengths. The model can be built for contest use and is a very good flyer with the unmistakable silouette of the worlds first operational fighter jet.
From which angle you look at it- the Me 262 double seater is a real beauty. This version of the Messerschmitt 262 was designed as a trainer or night fighter (as shown in pictures) Like the full size plane, the double seater is construction bases on a standard single seater, with modified canopy and added spine. As a result, this kit is consisting of a standard Me 262 kit, plus glass fibre canopy frame and spine, vac formed canopy glassing, wood parts and hinges. The builder decides, if the canopy is fixed or fully functional*. The double seater conversion, which is guided by step by step pictures, is the only difference to the standard building manuals, that you can download (go to Me 262 A1a kit) here in the shop.
*depending on the modellers skills
Please note that even with the detailed building manual, some skills are required to build the model. The Me 262 is made for the experts who know what they do. Some ARF experiences are not enough to build this model !
For those who already have a Grumania single seater, an update kit for the conversion to a double seater is also available on request.
